- ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆This is a great museum if you like maritime history, but the ship is very interesting regardless. I am sorry to hear they are closing next month, but I recommend this to anyone until then.By Quinn Ressler, July 05, 2017
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Great maritime museum, kid friendly. Interesting exhibit about the history and evolution of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Hands on displays of various ship technologies, and spooky collection of artifacts from many of the great lake shipwrecks. Don't miss the chance to walk around the old coast guard ice breaker they have there, the Alexander Henry. We have been to many maritime museums but the freedom to explore the well preserved inner workings of the Alexander Henry is a truly unique experience. We came away with a better understand of how these big ships work and what life aboard would have been like.By Stephen LaGuardia, May 03, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆The Marine Museum and the Alexander Henry (an imposing and magnificent Coast Guard Ship) are tributes not only to Kingston's history on Lake Ontario but to all the cities/towns on all of the Great Lakes.Over the years, as my grandsons grew from small boys to young men, we greatly enjoyed climbing onto the Alexander Henry and pretending that we were sailors out on one of the Great Lakes. Additionally,we were awed by the collection of maps, pictures, paintings, historical papers and other Great Lakes memorabilia that are protected in the museum. With the passing years my grandsons and I came to fully realize the importance of the Marine Museum in protecting the history of the Great Lakes. Now with great sorrow I have to tell my grandsons (who live in the US) that they will no longer be able to visit their friend ,the Alexander Henry, when they make their annual summer visit. The loss of the Marine Museum and the Alexander Henry is a tragedy for all of us who live in Kingston and who are proud of Kingston's history and a tragedy as well for all of those who visited the Marine Museum and the Alexander Henry as children and who want to visit the museum and ship with their children/grandchildren.So,if you are visiting Kingston before August 23rd 2016, a visit the Museum is a must before its doors are closed forever.By rhea wood, April 10, 2017
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆The walk around the Alexander Henry is a fond memory. Good museum for families. Not expensive and interesting exhibits.By François-Michel Brière, November 25, 2016
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★This is an excellent museum. Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed it, including our 7 year old son. The main building is interesting as it is, but being able to tour the museum ship Alexander Henry just made our visit that much better. In the main building there are many different areas of interest and several hands on displays to keep the younger kids engaged. We spent a great deal of time in the waterways and shipping section, a big interest for our family. We also spent quite a bit of time on the Alexander Henry itself, enjoying being able to explore the ship at our leisure.By Mian Dui, July 12, 2016
